In June of 2006, Viron closed a Series ‘A' financing of $20 million USD to accelerate Viron programs.  Viron's two largest shareholders remain GrowthWorks Capital and Barvest Inc.  The following is an overview of the milestones achieved with Series ‘A' funding:

• Phase 2a complete, data supports efficacy and safety
• Statistically significant reduction of key cardiac enzymes of heart damage at multiple timepoints after stent placement
• Identified mechanism of action of this powerful inhibitor of monocyte migration
• Process development to support manufacturing scale up of VT-111a using newly developed manufacturing process
• Greater than 90% gross margin expected from manufacturing at current scale 
• Cardiovascular Phase 2b preclinical and clinical path mapped out

 

• VT-346 (TNFbp)
• Head-to-head comparisons with marketed anti-TNF therapies demonstrated VT-346 has both qualitative and quantitative advantages
• Unique and well-characterized mechanism of action fundamentally different from currently marketed anti-TNF therapies
• Reduced damage to bone and cartilage and improved arthritic scores in gold standard preclinical arthritis model
• Development of a cell line and master cell bank to support clinical advancement

 

• VT-384 (IL-18bp)
• Confirmation of IL-18bp activity both in vitro and in vivo
• Manufacturing cell line development for cGMP material underway

 

• PROSPECT^TM Discovery Platform
• Developed high throughput platform
• Validated key components of the platform

 

Viron is currently seeking $25 million CAD in a Series ‘B' Financing to fund Company operations to the middle of 2013.  Target milestones for Series ‘B' financing include:

 

• VT-111a Phase 2b clinical study completion
• VT-346 IND filing
• VT-384 preclinical package advanced to support partnering
• VT-214 target indication identified
• Generation of new targeted therapeutics from PROSPECT^TM discovery platform
• Building Viron team to support the next phase of growth

 

The Company will focus on securing partnering deals once the Series ‘B' financing is complete.  Industry validation will significantly enhance the value of the entire product pipeline and increase the attractiveness of the Company as a compelling strategic acquisition.
