PROTEIN PURIFICATION TECHNICIAN, LEVEL III - Ref. No. 2009-05
This position is being advertised in anticipation of funding under the Career Focus Program of the Youth Employment Strategies initiative. To be eligible for this position, you must be a Canadian Citizen, 30 years of age or under, hold a degree in science, and be a first-time youth participant in the Career Focus Program.
You will be responsible for developing protein purification and characterization strategies using standard protein biochemistry practices, including column chromatography, SDS-PAGE, HPLC, FPLC, immunoblotting, etc. You will focus on the downstream aspects of protein production method development and characterization, as well as scale-up and method transfer to GMP-production facilities.
You have a Bachelor of Science degree and 2-4 years experience in a laboratory setting, preferably within the biotechnology industry. You have a strong protein biochemistry background with experience in protein purification and characterization. You are proficient in the use of FPLC and HPLC systems and have advanced skills in analytical method development. An understanding of GLP, GMP, and quality control is an asset. Able to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team, you are detail-oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
